Dr. Jeffrey N. Myers

Dr. Myers received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania.  He then continued to study at the University of Pennsylvania where he acquired his medical (MD) and doctoral (PhD) degrees both in 1991.  He completed residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 completing his fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in 1997.  Dr. Myers began his career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at M. D. Anderson in 1997, where he has gone on to serve as the Deputy Chair for Academic Programs and Director of Research.  Professor Myers’ clinical, basic science and translational research interests focus on the progression and metastasis of oral tongue cancer.
He is currently an American Board of Otolaryngology-certified head and neck surgeon with basic and translational research expertise in various aspects of tumor biology.  He is a principal investigator on several grants, including an R01 grant, and a T32 Training Grant.  He is also a Co-PI and Project Co-Leader on a P50 Head and Neck SPORE Grant and is the Head and Neck Program Director on the UT MD Anderson’s Cancer Center Support Grant.
Dr. Myers has authored 100+ publications in peer-reviewed journals, has co-authored two books, and contributed to chapters in over 19 textbooks.  He serves on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed journals including Cancer, Head & Neck, and Annals of Surgical Oncology. His national leadership activities include serving as a Senior Examiner on the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, a Study Section Member for the National Institute of Health (1999-2007), and serves on the American Head and Neck Society Leadership Council.
Dr. Myers and his wife Lisa have enjoyed 20 years of marriage and are the proud parents of three energetic boys, Keith 18, Brett 15, and Blake 10.  In his free time, he enjoys being with his family, film, sports, guitar and running.
